Grainy Super 8 imagery, optically printed 16mm footage and an atmospheric soundtrack evoke the stillness of mind reached when standing before expansive sky and water. Filmed at Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts, Lake Ontario (in my head) was created as part of LIFT’s 25th anniversary Film is Dead… Long Live Film! commissioning project.

Waves at Birth

The man in the bottle symbolizes lost hope of humanities survival during a war at its climax. A little humming bird desperately escapes the war on land and in an attempt to survive, it struggles to fly over the ocean. Under the waves, a man closed up in a bottle floats downwards, going deep into the ocean where a happy seahorse plays by itself in the harmony of nature.
